This an higuera (calabash gourd). The carved design represents the sacred quadruplets in Taino lore (4 cardinal directions), one of whom is named Deminan Caracaracol and the turtle is represented with 28 segments around the rim (one full moon cycle). Thank you for looking! (Music by Edwin Cedeño).
